Summary

In the next two decades, approximately two thirds of the rural labour force will migrate to urban areas in China and Indonesia. While both countries face similar challenges as hundreds of millions move, the policies implemented and the consequences of these policies are very different. This book examines and compares this large population movement. It studies the impact of migration on migrants and their families, on rural communities they left behind and urban communities they enter.
